During the transition stage from room to room, children get to spend time with their current keyworker and their new keyworker in the new room. Due to the Nursery being open plan, the children are aware of the different areas and the staff, so this is not a daunting experience and usually runs smoothly.
We place great emphasis on preparing children for school and use a range of very effective ways to help children cope successfully with the transition. In addition, those transitioning to school have the opportunity to visit a local school and, where possible, we will make the visit to the school the child will be transitioning too. We also on occasion have the child’s keyperson attend the school with the child if need be when they initially transition, especially if the child in question is anxious or finds it hard in new situations.
