We value parents as partners in our important work of raising happy and inspired kids. Our staff are warm and welcoming to all parents and from the outset, build up close bonds with the parents and sometimes the extended family who may be the person who drops off/collects the child.
Parents receive regular updates about their child’s progress and are invited in several times a year to meet their child’s key person. Parents are also encouraged to take part in Nursery life where possible.
The Nursery has ‘stay and play’ sessions and parent socials where parents are invited to come into the nursery and share their knowledge whilst sampling a bite to eat cooked by our in-house chef.
We believe in an open-door policy where you are always welcome to come and speak to us. We look forward to meeting parents during parent evenings and encourage you to suggest ideas or share any information/news about your child’s progress both at nursery or at home.
Parents are offered questionnaires giving you a voice to make sure you are fully involved and consulted in your child’s care and wellbeing. The nursery works in partnership with a range of professionals, so we know where to go for support for a child. We reflect on our practice and are always seeking to improve what we do and how we do it.
Keeping you informed:
All children attending the Orchard Day Nursery have a personal online Learning Journey where staff regularly record photos, observations and comments to build up a comprehensive record of your child’s time with us. We use Tapestry a system hosted in the UK on secure servers.
You (and your relatives, if you wish) have secure access to your child’s information on Tapestry and in addition to viewing our contributions, you can add to it by uploading your photos and comments and commenting on our observations. This two-way sharing of information ensures that not only are parents always aware of their child’s progress at the nursery, but that we are working seamlessly and knowledgably with the child’s home experience.
